Are you having electrical problems at your home?
If you are, you have come to the right place to find the answerers you have been looking for. If you have lights that will not light or switches that will not switch, or anything else that does not work right. Take a look around, if it is not on the site today it might be tomorrow. I will keep adding pages to this site until I can not think of anything else to write about.
Subjects I would like to cover
I would like to go over many different subjects on this site. One of the most important subjects is simple every day home electrical repairs, such as repairing light fixtures, replacing electrical devices, such as switches and outlets. I would like to explain the easiest way to troubleshoot problems around the house, like tripping GFCI outlet or breakers. There are a lot of repairs a homeowner may be able to do themselves if they wish, you can read the material about the repair to see if it is something you might want to tackle, If you do not wish to tackle it, there are a lot of good electricians out there that will be more than happy to take care of all your electrical needs.
Home improvement projects
There are a lot of home improvements a homeowner may want to do, like add recessed lighting, add switches and outlets, wire your garage or storage shed, add ceiling fans, whole house fans, the list is endless. The one good thing about this, is as a homeowner you can pick and choose what project you would like to do or hire an electrician to do what ever you do not want to do. I have always been a person who like to do everything myself. I have been a electrician for around 30 years. That is my trade, that is what I do the best, but I like to try other things. I built two of my own homes, I did all the things I was comfortable with and hired subcontractors to do the rest. So I know how it is,if you decide that this is not for you. You would not be at this site if you where not curious, I will try to give you the information you are looking for so you can make that decision
Troubleshooting intro
Doing your own troubleshooting can be fun and very educational. It will teach you how circuits work and how the power gets to the different devices and appliances in your home. The more you work on troubleshooting the easier it will get, the circuits running through your home are pretty basic if you can understand them. The one thing you need to remember when troubleshooting is that before the problem started everything worked. So you are not going to rewire anything, you are looking for a loose or bad connection or maybe a bad device. But when you start tracing the circuit through your home you will be able to tell exactly how it was wired. The main thing when you are working on troubleshooting is to pay attention to what you are doing. Don't take anything apart without making sure you can put it back exactly how it came apart. Like I said before it worked before the problem started so don't try to rewire it. If you cannot get it working there is always the option to call in a professional electrician to solve your problems.
Tools
Just like anything you do around the house there are tools that make it easier. Some electrical tools can be pretty expensive, but a lot of times there are simple tools you can buy that will do the trick .I will try to go over some of these tools and how to use them.
